Bankruptcy causes famous Chicago meat store to close

Posted on Monday, October 3rd, 2011 at 2:39 pm

A meat store in Chicago that has become an icon after 150 years in business, has announced that it will be closing all four of their locations.

The Moo & Oink stores are located in the West and South side of Chicago and employ nearly 200 people. On Sept. 9, the employees were told that the doors would be shutting and that they would not be getting severance.

An investor group was hoping to buy the company to keep the store intact, but instead a lawyer for the company will be taking over the assets in order to sell them.
